- The HP DeskJet 3940 Color Inkjet Printer offers a slight improvement over the 3930, but is still a bare basic printer for the budget conscious.
- The PC and MAC compatible DeskJet 3930 prints at a maximum 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi and offers decent graphics, better texts, and sub par, less vibrant photos (up to 8.5 x 11), that is to be expected for a budget printer.
- The DeskJet 3930 has the standard two ink cartridge system of a black (HP 21 ink cartridge) and a tricolor (HP 22 Tricolor ink cartridge) so you might end up spending more than the initial price of the printer on wasted ink.
- The printing is improved but still slow side with about 13 pages per minute for text and graphics and about 12 minutes for a 8 x 10 print at high settings. There really are no other features to speak of in this budget system.
- Overall, the DeskJet 3940 is a slight improvement and still has a great price which will appeal to beginners, students, and casual users looking for simple, reliable, budget printing.
